📲 QR SCANNER — OFFLINE MOBILE APP

QR Scanner for containers: check-in your port steps without network, from any Android smartphone

Surestaria Mobile turns your phone into a professional port check-in tool. Designed for African terminals where 4G doesn't always reach.

At the port of Matadi, on the Douala docks, in the Abidjan or Luanda container yards: mobile connection is rarely reliable. Classic solutions (European TMS, industrial scanners) don't work, or cost a fortune. Surestaria was designed for this African context.

A mobile app, not a gadget

Surestaria Mobile (Android) is not a stripped-down version of the web software. It's a native application dedicated to field check-in, optimized for:

  • Quickly scanning with the smartphone camera
  • Working entirely offline
  • Locally storing each check-in
  • Automatically syncing as soon as a connection is available
  • Simple authentication via PIN code (no need to retype email/password)

Check-in workflow

  1. The operator arrives at port, opens Surestaria Mobile, enters their PIN code
  2. They select the step to check in (e.g., OCC inspection, DGDA release, Port exit)
  3. They scan the container QR code with the camera
  4. The app validates the check-in: timestamp, geolocation, optional photo
  5. The check-in is stored locally (offline) and sent to the server when network returns

Why offline mode is crucial in Africa

African operators often work in areas without stable 4G:

  • Matadi port: the inner-quay area is poorly covered
  • Luanda port: logistics zones at coverage edge
  • Douala terminal: storage zones at coverage edge
  • Road journeys: long corridors without network
  • Power outages: operator antennas out of service

With a non-offline solution, every missed scan = a lost container = a demurrage charge. With Surestaria, you work without interruption, the system catches up the sync for you.

Technical specifications

  • Compatibility: Android 7+ (mainstream smartphones from 50 USD)
  • Local cache: Hive (ultra-fast NoSQL database, embedded in the app)
  • Synchronization: event queue with automatic retry
  • Security: PIN authentication + JWT token, encrypted data in transit
  • App size: ~25 MB

PIN code: authentication adapted to the field

For an operator who checks in 50 containers a day, retyping email + password every time is unthinkable. Surestaria uses a 4-6 digit PIN code:

  • Configured once by each employee
  • Login in 2 seconds
  • Automatic lock after inactivity
  • Resettable by the office manager

Typical use case

A Matadi office has 3 field operators and 5 office employees. Without Surestaria:

  • Operators write on paper, photograph with WhatsApp
  • Office employees re-enter into Excel
  • Frequent errors, duplicates, omissions
  • Visibility delayed by several hours

With Surestaria:

  • Operators scan in 2 seconds per step
  • Office sees check-ins in real time on the dashboard
  • No re-entry, zero transcription errors
  • Demurrage detected automatically
"My operators scan 80 containers a day with their personal phones. Before, we lost 1 container per week. Now, never." — Office manager, Matadi
